mine has it also.when water lays on gel-coat it permiates it and causes water blisters.i've seen this also on fiberglass bath tubs that have sat with water in them for long periods of time.>scott

thanks i thought i had a mutant ski

damn shame i will have to paint it now, good news its not a reaction to unknown substance..

makes sence as this ski sat in garden with cover on for three years but the cover let water in footwells..

On the bathtubs we would break the blister and water would come out(fiber glass is not water proof without a gel-coat finish and water will break it down)but i'm not sure how it effects sheet mold compound?I'm not too concerned on ski i just use touch-up paint as they break!>scott
P.S. I have also seen this happen with paints and epoxies used to refinish bath tubs, mainly when a bath mat is left in the tub and holds water under it. it will blister then peel!

They will be down to the smc you might want to ask painter what he recommends for filling? also i'm not sure if the smc absorbs moisture like fiberglass?

Mine had the same problem on one side. I sanded the footwell area down and filled with Marine-Tex. Finish that off smooth and it's ready to prime/paint.
