Thread: "The Floodwall"

Back in the early 80's I worked on an offshore supply boat for Tidewater Marine. Their office was in Morgan City and we crew changed there a lot.
There was a bar we used to frequent and I want to say it's name was "The Floodwall" To this day, it was one of the wildest places I have ever drank in. (and I've had drinks all over the US and in many overseas dives) It was full of oil patch guys and it didn't matter if you were in there at 7 a.m. or 11 at night, it was always cranking
Does anyone know if it's still there?

Im sure the bar is still there, but not called the floodwall anymore.
Was it on front street along the river front?

Yep, Tidewater is still based out of Morgan City.
The floodwall is no longer a bar. After that it was called the wheel house lounge and then it was vacant for many years and now its a gymnastics place for kids

No more Floodwall. I hope the new owners don't know the buildings past
I was in there one morning after a crew change. The cops came in, locked the door and told the owner nobody could leave untill they found so and so (who they knew was in there) After about 5 minutes, so and so fessed up and they took him away. When you went in there, the bouncer at the door asked you if you had a knife or a gun...... If you didn't, he'd ask "Which one ya want?" Just kidding. But back then, it was a pretty rough place.
