    radio communication options?

    Hi folks
I know this is totally off-topic, but I have no real idea where to post it, and I'm totally open to suggestions.
I'm trying to find a relatively cheap way of chatting via radio, hands free, within our small group of PWC riders in Brisbane, Australia. Something in the order of a small UHF-type 40 channel CB radio and headset with boom mike, with voice activation, that's totally waterproof, rechargeable, and will stand up to reasonable use in a marine salt water environment (Including wave jumping and subsequent falling off occasionally . Not just a cheap handheld UHF radio in a waterproof Aquapack. I mean, a proper hands-free communications setup, such as used with motorbike riders for between bike communications, thats waterproof. Surely something exists somewhere, given the surf life saving and other marine rescue people around, but we haven't come across anything yet..
After all, hand signals will only get you so far, even for a couple of old SCUBA divers
I've looked and looked, and asked around, and never found anything that'd do the job adequately.
So, thinking this site might have someone in the know, I wondered if anyones heard of anything, and where I might get something.
Either posting here, or email me at [email protected] would be appreciated
    Cheers, and thanks folks

There are lots of two way radios to pick from. The problem that you are going to have is the earpiece/microphone set up that can handle the wind noise. Probably going to need a throat mic and they are a little pricey.

Check this site out they mave some cheaper models but I doubt they would last very long in the water. Need one that is military grade to last.

For 2 way radios Garmin makes some GPS/radio combos that float. You need on that meets IPX7 standards. I don't know what optional headset jacks they have.

OK, buy any of the Garmin 2 ways that are IPX7 spec. Their headset jack is a 2.5mm single pin. Get the throat mic that has the Motorola single pin. It is also 2.5mm. This way you will have a gps unit that can also show you the location of your freinds also while talking to them.

WOW!!! I spent almost an hour researching all that. Sorry for all the posts but I posted as I found different links. I wont go back and edit or delete any since it gives a lot of different options till I found the best option IMO.

I have not had great luck with the hands free communications due to the motors tuning on the circuit. Do you think it will still work for your needs? Salt water getting into a radio kills them, all connectors have to be seeled at the connection when intalled. It has to be a waterproof radio with there own waterproof accessories that can be manipulated to your needs. I use one but very expensive.
