OK, Finally Changing from Oil Pump to Premix, Question

OK, after losing an engine due to an oil line coming off, and seeing that SBT recommends premixing, I finally decided to ditch the pump.

So, do I leave the pump attached and remove the lines and cable, plug the ones on the carbs, etc??

Also if I drain all the oil from the tank will a low level alarm prevent the engine from running, and if so do I remove the level sensor and modify it to stay showing full??

If I remove the pump, how do I cover the hole in the front of the engine cover.

    BTW 2001 XL800

    Thanks

Do a search, there are several threads that explain it all.

You need to get an oil injection block off plate and remove the oil pump/lines.There is a line that comes off the oil tank towards the bottom, facing the motor. You can drain the oil into a container.Dont let it overfill,or spill.Big time mess.

Do what Woody suggested and also remove the oil filler cap while draining, much faster

Get the parts from Carl at ISLAND......He keeps all block off parts in stock!
You add a small jumper resistor to the connector and all is well. You dont have to rig the sending unit and take everything apart. Installing the jumper takes a whole 10 seconds and you done!
