    RXT handling question

How exactly do the handling charateristics of the RXT change after removing the OPAS. Such as low speed, off idle, midrange, and full speed.

    Thanks

I took the OPAS off my 03 GTX-SC back in the summer of 03. It was a night and day change but I really didn't enjoy it until i got the pump wedge.

I ride in a pretty choppy lake so after i took those things off the ski felt a little lighter in the water, turning was a little more responsive. It's very hard to describe it now that I have the rxp but trust everyone, remove them. Or ride with them on for a month or 2 and then take them off. I don't know anyone that wished they didn't, however I think you may also need a pump wedge. It helped on the GTX-SC, it should help on yours.

    good luck.

It's been a while since I had my '03 SC, but I put my own PVC blockers in the OPAS to keep them up just to see how it would handle and it is true, it was night and day. The ski actually felt lighter. I think it's just a dragging thing and without them they won't catch the water and you won't get that feeling like you're driving down a freeway with ruts/grooves in the pavement that your 12" Honda CVCC wheels get sucked into and you get caught in that over-correcting mode.

It handles good with them but it is better with them blocked off. I was surprised at the boat, handled better than I thought it would for its weight.

I removed my OPAS a few months ago. When riding the ski I actually dont notice any negative effects; quite honestly, I feel as if the ski slides into corners better at high speeds maintaining a higher speed than with the OPAS (that's my opinion). At idle speed it's no different than most ski's on the market which do not come with OPAS. I 'm happy I took mine off and would do it again.
