3D Power - No Ideas Out There?

On Jan 9th I posted a question asking if anyone had swapped a carbed 951, or another motor, into the 785-powed 3D hull. No response. Certainly if you guys have the ingenuity to put a S/C 4Tec into a GPR hull, someone could have an idea on this. I have a deposit on a RXP-X but I still enjoy goofing-off on my 3D and at 245 lbs, I need more power. I can't find a dealer willing to deal on a new 3D Di. Thanks for the help

A carbed 951 should be very possible since the 3D came with that motor later.

Now you will probably need a donor skias you will need the complete motor and electronics. Also if you 3D doesn't alreadt have the 155mm pump(I think it might but I don't know) you will need to upgrade the 140mm pump(common to older 787s) to a skat 148mm magnum pump.

For more details on the swap you should loo at X4 951 conversion threads on this site.

Try posting in the 2 stroke section. You should get more help in there.

seriously there should be used 3d di's around really cheep. these arent exactly highly sought after skis, sell yours and upgrade.
will cost less than retrofitting a whole new engine.

3D Power - No Ideas Out There?

Thank you to you three who took the time to respond to my question. I had no idea, being new to this site, that there was a 2-stroke-only section. But I must agree it would be simpler to just buy a 3D Di, but, from what I'm told that cannot be modded and I can't find any used ones in the local Boat Trader mags in the Lake Havasu City, AZ area. Thanks again.

My boy has a 3D and we are going to start doing some things to it this summer to get some more speed out of it, but I don't know how much we will get... He does have a 3D DI. Here is what we are going to do to it.

    Ride Plate
    Intake Grate
    Prop
    Pump Wedge
    Fill Ride Plate Holes
    Adjust A Thrust
    Sponsons

Should get a couple more MPH out of it, but that is it.

Putting the carbed 951 in to a 3D has been done here in New Zealand. Complete with aftermarket pipe and carbs. I dont know how it was done but it can be done. It went very well...
