Starting from scratch! (1998 polaris SLXH 1050cc)

    Hello all,

I thought this would be a good place to get started on giving my ski a boost.

Since im starting from stock, I was hoping you could recommend where to start and what to work my way into. I dont want to cause any damage by uprgrading something I should have waited on if you get my drift....Maybe this would be a good post to start an upgrade guide!

    Is it factory original throughout?

    Any photos?

I think your model already has the extended pump with 4 degree pump wedge, and extended ride plate.

What are you looking for, performance-wise?
Top speed, acceleration, turning, ride/handling, appearance, louder...

Regarding improving the top speed, do you know your current GPS measured top speed?

it is factory throughout. I am open for ideas...I wouldn't mind giving it a custom look as well. money is not really an issue here so we can go all out. PErformance wise, I would like to see a big increase in acceleration and top speed, more so top speed. the ski has gotten up to 67 on flat water, i dont know an exact gps speed. I will get pics up soon!

If money is not a factor...I would just go and sell the 1050 engine and go buy a 1165 engine which can be ported and bored to a true 1200cc engine. There are many bolt on things that can be done on top of that, including triple pipes...yes I said Tripples Al and Beerdart! Anyway...there is a lot of fun things that can be done!

    Or sell the 1998 SLXH, and buy a 1200 engined SLX (2000 or 2001), or a 1999 X-45 (was the X-45 a 3 seater?)

I think 2001 was the last year for the 2 seater hulls.

I do think the SLX was one nicely done Polaris. If I had room somewhere, I would like to have one for the 'fleet'...
