Thread: Msx 250???

a pristine msx 150 hull black complete with bad grenaded motor, can you see the rod now???a kawi ultra 250 with a demolished hull, came off a trailer, complete motor and sc. $2000 gets them both.wondering will the fi fuel pump support the sc motor???or does the kawi motor have a motor mounted pump???same rotation for the prop???

If it works, it would be one fast MSX!
How much of a weight difference is there between the compact Weber motor and the big Kawasaki engine, including the intercooler and other necessary Kawi bits?
Is there a Polaris jet pump impeller that can handle 250HP?
Any intake grate concerns with the (much) higher speeds?
Would you be using the Kawi exhaust system?
Is there room for it in the MSX hull?

i figure a good skat prop on a 12 vane stator, the real question would be hooking up all that low end torque without cavitating the prop.pretty sure as long as the exh manifold fits with clearance retubing the exhaust and intake can be accomlished, figure 2 grand reselling the kawi motor setup would be at least a break even if the swap doesn't work

This sounds like a no brain-er. Get er done.

If The Engine Rotations The Same Then The Polaris Pump Will Work,if Not Then Thats Some Major Work To Fit The Bigger Kawi Pump.what About Joining The Two Electrical Systems Together???or Operate Them Independently??tach Feed From The Kawi Setup To A 2 Cyl Reading Tach???if The Pol Fuel Pump Won't Supply The Beast Then An Auto Fi Pump???

That's just little problems. That just might be the way to play the MSX.

I vote go for it. Should be a pretty good setup if you can get it to work.
Get it done in time for Mudbug. We need a few more Polaris guys out there to represent.

Rotation should be the same. If the fuel pump will not deliver, then you could always go with an aftermarket inline fuel pump wich can be used as a booster pump (in addition to). As far as the eletronics, I would use all the kawi. stuff. and figure out some how to mount and use the kawi guages. just to make your install eaiser. Post some pics. I think you are onto a great project!!!!!!!!!! For the price I would do it!!!!!!!!!!

If you can get the engine low enough in the hull to align the drive system once the bed plate is installed the rest can be fabbed. Time and money is all it takes.

hadn't thought about using the kawi gauges, not sure if they're usable from the ultra, the pumps destroyed.getting it low enough is a concern, haven't measured to see if the crankcase centerline is taller than the polaris, might fab a 3/16" aircraft sheet plate to mount the motor.pretty sure i can cross mate polaris fuel pump and sender and guages into the kawi harness except for running the tach, got a guy lined up that can build the exhaust complete after the manifold as well as form any intake tubes.anybody know how hydro's pump or what pump he's running in the msx with the rxp motor???does the stock pump supply water keep it cool enough???
