Wrong Key Starts My Ski !!!

So I went riding this weekend with my friends. We were arguing about how cool the new Seadoo's key security feature is comparing to Yamaha (Key security feature: Only your key can start your ski ). So one of my friends went over to my ski and to our surprise his key started my ski. (Note: I have the Riva Racing ECU with a stage3 on it). My question is: Once you get your Riva racing ECU do you loose that feature or there is something wrong with the coding in my ECU? Has anybody out there try this on their skis?

if its a riva ecu like you mentioned its been mentioned alot that the advantage of this one is actually being able to keep your security key and able to get all the fault codes from the buds.

if it's a rotax ecu then you would loose your security.

maybe your riva ecu needs to be programmed with your key at the dealer.

When I got my stage3 installed the Riva Dealership programmed the key to the computer right in front of me , becuase the ski wouldn't start without the key being programmed.

Ive heard that there are only 10 different keys out there. If you're lucky, your key starts your buddies ski. As for me. . . I have access to 2 ski's and 3 different keys and none of them cross over.

doubt it, they program each key individually and it is the equivalent of a different house key... each house key has different grooves and cuts and each seadoo has a different code or whatever... go ask a dealer or read your manual

Actually, they program the ECU to match whatever key you have.

either way.. it is special to your ski and the only way it wont work is if you mod the ECU possibly it wont work or do some other mod that could mess with it

Yep each key has a certain electrical resistance, and the ECU/MPEM are programed to recognize that resistance.
