    Going Premix On Kaw 1200??

My thought is to leave the pump in place, remove the 3 oil lines at the carbs, using 2 "T" fittings route the 3 oil lines so they turn into 1 line, install a 1/4x1/8x1/4 "T" fitting in the oil pump supply line, and route the single oil line to that. See pic below.
    Run 40:1 premix.
    Comments, suggestions???

You would be getting way too much oil in #1 and #3. Remember those 2 get half the oil from the balancer cavities. If you want some extra piece of mind put 1oz per gallon in the tank and leave the injection alone. Another suggestion would be to change out the oil line every 2 or 3 seasons whether you see cracks or not.

According to the book, #1 and 3 get only 1/3 or less of the oil from the balancer reservoirs.

The problem would be that you would tend to foul 1 and 3 from too much oil. The 1200 doesnt have a problem with oil pumps failing. Unless you are running a full race motor that is going to be torn down often its not worth the headaches changing to premix. The problems usually come from old cracked oil lines or ocassionally the line popping off the carb. If the little spring clamps are on properly that shouldnt happen.

I tend to agree with you, but the owner wants to go premix; and since I can't find any solid evidence why his rear piston burned down, I can't really disagree with him (and he's been thru 3 non modified engines with only 36 total hrs on the boat). Ya kno what i mean?

I see what you mean. Do you think it could be a little lean on # 3? Here is a pic of one from the 00 ultra I bought. This was from cracked oil lines. You might want to check the check valve in the rear balancer. Also does it have a stock f/a on it?

I am going to premix on mine. I am having the cases modded with drain lines so I can change the oil in the balance shaft cavities with out pulling the engine.

It can be done, but it's not as easy as most skis.

Here are pics of the mag and cent pistons. It looks like they got hit with some shrapnel from the rear piston.
