Back the trailer in farther and pull it up by hand before attaching the winch.

If you are that lazy, why go for an electric winch when you could have a remote control trailer!!!

spaceman, personally I don`t see any real need for an electric winch. by the time you grab your ski or some prefer to power it up on the bunks, your within a couple of feet to winch up, unless you plan on having a long cable which is hot12+ in your hands while in the water , unless there is a remote???
Take a look in some of the boating catalogs for trailer tongue extensions or just replace the one you have with a longer tongue...PR...

I back my trailer down in until i see 6" of the front of bunks sticking out of water. I can then either ride it on or just stand next to it and throttle it up to bow stop.

Like pale said, you can also go for the longer tounge to keep your vehicle out of the water. usual tounge lenth is @ 60". i installed an 84" on mine and picked up another to do a friends trailer this spring. its still in my basement. heres a pic.
