    tested new mods with results

I want to post stock speeds first:
    GTX 61.6 mph 7,700 rpm
    RXP 67.2 mph 7,950 rpm

Today I tested both skis with the following results.
I will list what the new mods were and the new speeds.

Temp 55 Water 44 Humidity 35 Elevation 2,900 ft. Bad Chop from wind.
Remember 2,900 ft so might figure 1 to 1.5 mph beter at sea level.

    Stage 1 with performance bo
    GTX 185 (non-intercooled)
    Prop 13/20R Pitched - 3mm total
removed 1 pint of oil to 3/4 of dipstick
66.5 mph at 7,610 rpm (previous rpm were 7,450) previous speeds were 63.0 - 2mm on same prop
Finally got speeds were there supose to be. Not bad for non=intercooled.
will put the riva thru hull with rpx water box (moded) once removed from other ski.

    Stage 2 with S3 charger
    RXP
Installed Fizzle XS Intercooler and removed stock ic.
    Installed graco strainer.
    Installed Dynatune digital boost gauge.
    Trued grate to ride plate.
76.4 mph at 8150 to 8,200 rpm. (previous rpm were 8,050)
previous speeds were 74.2 mph without XS IC
    8,150 rpm showing 10.7 boost
    8,200 rpm showing 10.8 boost
Will add 15/20R and green water box

Today the ski pulled so much harder from mid to wot over stock ic.
I was surprised at the boost numbers but stayed the same after one hour of riding. I can now burn the prop pretty bad out of the hole and I am sure that the 14/19 is holding back on top end 1+mph minimum.
You better be holding on when you gun it from 6,000 rpm or your going for a ride.

The boost guage does not read much until 6,500 rpm. There is not flickering of the numbers in wot, just holds at 10.7 to 10.8. This is the guage to buy if you need one hands down.

I noticed a different noise now. You can hear the engine and supercharger coming from the front of the seat if you put your head down there. Have others noticed this when removing the stock ic. Possibly becuase I have the front intake.

I must say that the handling mods worked great and stayed hooked up even in the chop.
I owe my success to this forum as I have learned all that I know here.

Just wanted to share my ride today for all those that can;t ride and would like to hear back some thoughts or criticism.

I do not think that 80 mph is possilble with stock ic at 2,900 ft. unless I go rude. I want to add the mods that I indicated and see how fast and then maybe go rude if need be.
Appreciate all the help as I would still be scratching my head without this forum.

not bad but an 04 spinning 8200? You got a little too much prop, 8150 is the limit with an 04...target should be 8100 on the stock ECU for an 04...

On that GTX, did you remove the flame arrestor from inside the manifold?

76.4 with a 14/19 prop, 2900ft elevation AND rpms too high. You might have one the fastest skis out there mod for mod.

    Danny,

I realize that I am over the perfect zone (8100) but yesterday was my first test and I do not own a 15/20 yet. Everyone told me here that I would need a new prop and sure enough I do. I thought that the rev limiter on an o4 was 8,200 but I could hold her wot and it never gave up. I guess that 8,200 is the limit and I have to go over 8,200 for the engine to cut out.
What about the boost. According to all that I have read here, I am very happy with S3 stock ecu showing 10.7 and 10.8. Isn,t that preety good for that charger. I guess that the cool air and water are contributing to that. I know that the intercooler works good cause I removed my seat and the pipe from that charger to IC was very hot to the touch and the pipe from the IC to intake was much cooler.

In regards to the Flame restrictor in the GTX I have not removed it as all that I have read it is a pain to get out.

I am fixing to start taking my skis appart to get ready to install the green water box in my rxp once it comes in.

    thanks James,

I have worked hard on it, but owe it all to this forum. I will admit that 76.4 was the highest on gps for the day and may have been just a blip for a second but it ran hard for 2 hours at 75.5 to 76.0 with no problem and 10.7 to 10.8 lbs of boost every time. Big difference with the new xs intercooler. I am a very happy pwc rider.
I think with 15/20 and some fine tunning I should see over 78 here. Or atleast I hope.
I can not wait to get my riva seat cover as now staying on is a must.

I can't get mine to rev past 8150, thats all it will "show"...so I dial everything in for 8100...

Instead of a 15/20, why not try the 15/19 3 blade...the PULL is a lot harder, but will be slightly short of the 15/20 on the top end...

Boost numbers look good for that RPM too...

    Either way, good job!

Good work!! Good news!! Fast ski!!
I agree with Danny and James about bringing down your rpm's. You are running lean at 8200 and you will burn up your exhaust manifold outlet (my experience) and it dosen't take very long to burn it. Get the rpm's back down to 8100...

Good boost numbers, especially for your elevation. You are on the limiter though. It would be a good idea to install the Riva pro nozzle and run the 81 mm ring. It will bring on some more speed too.

    thanks guys,

It feels good to hear comments from ya'll. Danny the reason I have not bought a new prop is I am caught in the middle of what to do. Go 3 blade or 4 blade?

I was thinking of getting a 3 blade if I could send off my 14/19 to someone and get it adjusted to a 15/20. Can anyone do that to my prop, if so, and is it cheaper than buying or just a break even deal. But then again I might need to keep my 14/19 incase I get big heat fade in the hot summer days. It gets close to centry mark here in July and August and being at 2,900 I might need to have it in my back pocket.

In regards to the 3 blade, I can not imagine more acceleration as yesterday I stood on the back and gunned it and my slick shoes that I had on gave way to my 230 lb frame. Not very pleasent.
