If your ski was car, which would it be?

If you wanted to compare your PWC to a car, what particular model would it be?

Here's why I ask. This weekend, I was describing my WaveBlaster II to a "car guy" who knows nothing about watercraft. He asked if I was going to mod it for higher top speed. I tried to explain that high speed wasn't the point of a B2. I started discussing the concave hull, the nose-heavy turns, the huge pump diameter, chine placement, etc...
...and I could see that his eyes were glassing over.

Finally I said, "Look, it's like a Porsche 914. It handles really well, but..."
"But it's really slow," he filled in.

"No, it's got a heck of a kick out of the hole, and it was a pretty advanced design for the time, it's just not intended for high speed. It's like a... a..."
    "GMC Typhoon?" he asked.
"Yes! Exactly!" I think that's the perfect comparison for my Blaster2.

So I started thinking about my other two skis...
1994 Sea Doo GTS: a Buick Century, definitely. No question.
Yamaha WaveJammer: ...Hmmm, that's harder. Someting really underpowered, with a lousy ride, weird looking, unpopular, simple, super durable, silly fun:
...Corvair? Nah, too well known, too trouble-prone.
...Chevy Sprint? Nope, too ordinary, too flimsy.
...AMC Pacer? Un-uh. Too much motor, too iconic, but getting closer.
...Suzuki X-90? YES! THAT'S IT! That sums it up quite well.

So. What car would YOUR ski be?

Fox platform Mustang from the early 90's for my 02 GPR. Reliable, easy to mod, relatively cheap to mod, still looks good. Not the fastest thing out there, but close enough to have fun.

I would have thought something more affordable. A lot of folks could swing a RXP-X if they wanted; the Veyron is totally out of the fundsosphere for all but the insanely rich. And Sea-Doo is the biggest brand in the marketplace, not some little European fabrication house.

So, what would be brand-new, ungodly-fast, limited-edition sports models from leading brands? Submitted for your approval: 2009 Corvette ZR-1 or 2009 Nissan GT-R.

    1996 Polaris SLT 780-

A mid size GM station wagon w/ a small block V8. Comfy ride, mushy in the turns, rock solid reliable, load up the whole family. Decent power, but will never be fast w/out a whole lot more motor...

Porche Carrera 996....The right balance of power/weight, easy to toss around when needed. Nicer than a standard car, but not as luxurious as some models get. Although not a turbo, it can hold its own against higher cars. Yet will still whoop a local rice boyz arse if he gets outta line...

Well, when we decided to buy a new Ski, I told Mick to buy the Z06 Corvette of the water. I'm not sure we got that but it's close. Mick will answer this one since he's the car guy
