    15/19r vs 15/20r

Which prop is a better all around prop for a stage 3rxp, I know riva recommends a 15/19r but I have a 15/20r in my ski and wanted to know which one is better. Thanks

Low end and hole-shot 15/19r, midrange and top end 15/20 Solas!

This is very debatable and many people might disagree but normally:

3 blade 15/19: better out of the whole performance, better acceleration

4 blade 15/20: better for top end performance, slightly better midrange

either one will need to be tweaked to get into the 8500-8550 range with a 81mm venturi ring........this way when heat fade sets in you can swap for a 82mm, 83mm ring and bring your RPMs back up

If you already have the 15/20r, stick with it.

The 15/19 prop is quicker at lower speeds and midrange, but once over 70MPH the 15/20-4 blade will outperform the 15/19 by a big difference (let's just said that 2 skis with the same s3 set-up and different props like we are discussing the one with the 15/20-4 blade will win by 2-3 lenghts)

With the right tweaking and TLC the 3 blade will be just as good top end as the 4 blade, but generally the 4 blade will have a better top end and the 3 blade will be better on bottom. I've also heard that the 3 blade provides better hookup than the 4 blade, so it all depends on what you want to set your ski up for.

Not disagreeing, but that is exactly the opposite of the common knowledge about outboard propellers. More blades = better holeshot due to less slip, but worse top speed due to greater drag.

I never understood why a jet drive would be any different.

3 blade props are 1-2 mph slower but they pull harder out of the hole

I don't know jack about boats. I just know it is what it is for skis, I've heard it from the best so I don't question it even though I've never tried a 3 blade. I want one though.

A 3 blade can perform within a half mph of a 4 blade, but, it's tough to get it there.... on and off on and off. A three blade pulls alot off the LE and the 4 blade pulls off the tail.
