New engine break in fuel/oil ratio

Simple question that most of you know. XL800, new top end, pistions, cylinders. What premix ratio for break in? and is 50:1 normal after that???

Thanks again, getting closer to water time!!

I break in with Yamalube then change to Amsoil. I run 40:1 normaly on premix ski's and maximim of 32:1 on break-in.

I just talked to a guy,

he said first 2 tanks go like no more than like 4000 rpm.

run 2 full tanks through it like this.

3rd tank, take it a little higher, but no WOT. Short blasts are ok.. but don't hold them too long.

4th tank, I'm gonna go safe way, and take it just a tiny bit bigger than the third.. but still no WOT and just a little longer blasts.. but do not hold it

then 5th tank Ease into WOT don't like punch it really hard, or try to do like Top speed runs..

I think I am going to break in the ultra safe way... as above. I think by your 4th or 5th tank you will be okay and done with break in..

Well pretty much the first tank of 32:1 through it and man does it run strong, so hard to keep it just below the power valve/ power band, keeping it around upper 20's to low 30's mph. No major failures, so now I'll do another compression check and check hoses, and WD40 the engine, grease the coupler bearing and get ready for next weekends fun!!
