    installing solas 14/19R

    Well, I'm halfway through installing stage I and so far so good. However, the stock prop came out easily, but I am finding that the solas 14/19 seems to be fitting to tight. I can't get it to slip down inside the wear ring. It keeps catching the edges. What do I do next?

    It fits just fine. Just try to put it on level and it will go right in.

    spray wear ring with wd40 and make sure you slide it down the center let it sit in it and keep bumping it around and it will slip in.
    You can also put the wear ring/pump in the fridge for a couple hours and it will expand making it a little easier to slide in.

    I found it easier to just pull the wear ring out and install prop and put ring back in, Hope this helps!

    Freezing makes it contract, not expand. No fridge method. Put it in there level then spin the prop slowly and it will drop down.

    Thanks guys...got it in! When I spin the prop by hand after tightening everything up, it is slightly grazing the wear ring. Will this be a problem?

    Its supposed to be like that.

    Also, the green cap that threads into the prop...just hand tighten it? Any locktite?

    I thought if you froze metal/plastic it will widen,larger ID (inside diameter). I thought metal did it more than plastic and that is why you can do the freezer method to remove the wear ring.
    I thought freezing expanded the distance between atoms and heating brought them together (shrink).
    Would freezing the pump and ring not increase the ID of the hole ?
