What is the HP rating of 96 Challenger?

I think the '96 Challenger has a 787 Rotax motor. I've seen several different HP ratings for that motor. Anyone know for sure what the HP rating is for the 96 Challenger?

110 hp for the 787 engine. that engine is also referred to as an 800 and a 785.

I thought the Speedster and Challenger were fairly close in power? Isn't the Speedster 85x2hp for total of 170 hp?

Bummer. I was hoping it had 170. Oh well, 110 should still perform better than my 25hp inflatable boat.

I don't think they put the 800 engine in them yet...in 96. If the engine stands straight up it's a 720 (85 hp), if the cylinders are angled then it's an 800.

800/785/787 are all the same motor 110hp

And IMO is probally one of the worst boats built by Seadoo,is pretty gutless & wont hardly plane with more than 2 adults in it.

Every customer that I know that has bought one, cant wait to get rid of it.

Dang, that stinks. The ad for the boat said 170 HP and I figured that would be fine for that boat. Thinking it had the same power as the Speedster I got that one instead of the Speedster as I didn't want to maintain 2 motors on a boat if a single motor did almost as good. At 110 HP and with your comment I am now wondering if this thing will be a turd in the water. I doubt I could get my money back from the seller now to get the Speedster. On the plus side I think I got a good deal on this boat and could sell for what I paid for it or for a bit more. (The FedEx driver asked if I wanted to sell it when I was cleaning it up on the driveway when I told him I paid $3K for the boat.) I want to use it on the ocean and it has never been in salt water. Now I am wondering if I go to sell it if it will lose much value if I use it in the ocean or if it has pretty much deprecitated as much as it can. I've read posts were people say it goes 45mph with just the driver and 40mph loaded up with people. That seems like it would be fine for us given we are used to 25mph max in our inflatable in calm water, and closer to 10mph in choppy water. Keep in mind none of us in our family has ever been on a jet ski or any other boat other than our 13' 25hp inflatable. So I don't know if your comment is based on your experience riding the higher power units and comparing the Challenger to them or that the boat is a turd compared to most boats in general that size? We don't have much to compare it too... Hopefully our lack of experience will let us think the boat feels fast to us.
