Stock Thermostat Housing
I`m sure this has been discussed in some thread somewhere as I`ve done searches but my particular question hasn`t been aswerred.
Has anyone had any luck with removing the stock housing and re-using it? I`m tossing my thermostat in the trash but don`t want to start pressing this thing unless I can re-use it.

Also what is the difference in the Rotax and Riva units? Besides price.

I just did the Riva kit.
If you used their cutter to open the stock thermostat and had a new stat to replace it with you could put the stock part back on and epoxy it in place and have the lower temp stat for $20 or so.
Somone just needs to find the lower temprature stat to replace it with.
I was told this is how Les is doing his, maybe someone can say yes or no to that??

Hoss the Riva sends a cutting tool and new billet end piece to replace the front of the housing.
The RR is already done for you and you have the stock one left over.

I`m 86 ing my thermostat. What do these cutters look like. I`ve GOT to have something that will work. Anybody got a pair that I can use?

Hoss I can send you a cutter to use if you want to try it.
Send me your address and I will get it out tomorrow.

Here is what the kit looks like
They don't even show the tool. I wonder if you could make one using another tool.
Hoss what are you going to use for the replacement. Where do you get the 158 replacment part.

are all thermostats the same shape and design? like if we can find a way to separate it and re-use the stock thermostat housing, can you just buy something like this and put it in there?
