    Resume Critiquing - engineers

    Hey guys,

I am going to graduate college this spring and I am starting that very painful process of finding a job. I have been working on my resume for some time now, and thanks to the help of a lot of people, I think it is pretty solid. However, I would like some more feedback on not only the resume but my cover letter.

If you would like to help me out, reply to this thread or send me a pm and I will email you my resume, cover letter, and job description of what I'm going after.

    Thanks
    Mike

Make sure you spell check it, and proof read it multiple times.
I would not hire a person who had spelling errors on his resume.

Cover letters aren't read, so keep it simple. Put every single thing you want an employer to know about you into your resume - forget the old "keep it to one page and wow 'em in the interview" advice. You'll never get a call if your resume isn't impressive. By the time you get an interview, you're 90% there. The interview is all about chemistry.

Use to work as a recruiter, so I know a few things about resumes...

We're always looking for good engineers. Problem is my company prefers them with a 3.5+ GPA and won't really talk to anyone below a 3.3.

The plus side is that we are starting Mechanicals at over $70k and Chemicals close to $80k.

That is a very good start pay for an engineer! Chemical engineers are on if the highest paid people out of school! Mechanical engineers in Seattle are a dime a dozen! and would probably only start at 40-60K

    i get that feeling...

my resume is just under 2 pages and it has a lot of info on it. I also have on online portfolio which has a ton of info on it.

mike, the 3.5 gpa would not be a problem. im not a ME though, depending on the situation, im as close as it gets. 70k is good , what do you do?
