    gp800r no idle and rough

    Hi,

I had my gp800r (2001, 140hrs) out at the weekend and after an hour or so it would cut out if i didnt hold the throttle open slightly....it has been fine all summer but wont idle at all now.

it also cut out whilst going full speed at one point and wouldnt start again(got towed in slow)

ive got it starting now but it is very rough and will not idle...i have to keep the throttle open slightly....if i let go of the throttle it just cuts out and its running pretty rough. Ive never had any other problems with the ski

any ideas guys? sorry my first post is asking for help.

Not good bro. Time to pull the head off and see what's down there. May have melted the top of the piston onto the ring land, right in front of the exhaust port, due to running lean.

Check the inside of the hull to see if you have oil in it. The oil lines could have come off.
    Bummer no matter what.

Well here’s the pics!!! I’ve got one of each of my good cylinder and bad cylinder and the damage on the bad one is clear.

So what needs done...the actual cylinder unfortunately has a scrape where the the missing part of the piston is above where the powervalve sits. The powervalve edge is rough. and looks as though it may have JUST touched the edge of the piston and obviously you can see the damage on the piston. The head also has some damage. so what parts do I need to replace and what can be repaired???

    Bad Cylinder:

    Bad side of head:

Bad PowerValve: (slight damage to edge, did it hit piston?)

    and heres the good side:
