    My air intake mod

In an effort to combat the heat I decided to mount the K&N air filter that came with the Riva Power Filter in the front upper storage compartment area. I then ran a big hose from the Power Filter pipe to the K&N filter. My RPM’s came up about 100 RPM’s and my speed came up slightly.

Special thanks goes out to Franko for hooking me up with the hose and 4" to 3" rubber reducers to make this mod happen.

Whats most amazing is i actually gained 1 mph when i took the visor off of the hood and made a ram air type effect. No way will i run it like this in real world conditions, but it just goes to show you that if you can get cooler air in your speeds will come up.

I'm really looking forward to Riva releasing their free flow hood. That is really going to help things out.

Jerry you used your Riva filter? The whole thing and just added this extra little bit and placed the filter on the end? Also are you going to cut your bin are just add more rubber hose for a tighte fit?

Franko with his little tricks up his sleeves.

    COOL! Thanks for sharing

water, i just added the hose between the power filter tube and the actual filter element.

mike, the filter itself sits about 1" high in that top storage compartment. I also use the pre filter sock on it. It would take an awfully big gush of water to get any in the filter. After riding for two full days I didn't have a single drop of water in that top storage compartment.

Jerry, did you cut the rim off the large white basket to help seal the lid. riva talks about doing that with their intake mod and say you shouldn't ever run without the large basket as it helps the seal around the hood...

umm.. make me a parts list, i'd like to do that intake.

RX, the mod is great. It brought my RPM's up and increased speed slightly.

Mike, I didn't cut my basket yet, but i will.

Franko would be better suited to make the parts list out as he gave me everything to do it. THANKS FRANK!!!

I bought the hose from Grainger. Here it is:

    http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/pro...541273&ccitem=

The only problem is it only comes in 25 foot sections. So I hope you have some friends who need some. Also, you have to have a business to buy from Grainger because they are a business-to-business seller.

The 4 inch to 3 inch reducers are available at Lowes or Home Depot.

Actually the couplers were mine that I was going to use on my ski, but I figured since Frank was nice enough to give you that expensive hose I couldn't leave you hanging with no couplers. Plus Home Depot is right down the street from me. Just hoping Franko still has a piece of hose left for me to use now!
