Wink R&D Grate Girdle Install *THIS GRATE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE!*

Well after all the trouble of removing the stock grate in November and having nearly stripped out one of the brass inserts this is what I decided to do. I ordered the Grate Girdle and Riva Grate from Jerry but in order to make them work together the grate must be modified. I modified/installed the grate yesterday and it turned out perfect.

First I lined the girdle up on the grate and clamped it where it would be as if already mounted in the ski. I then center punched the holes and started drilling. First I drilled a pilot hole, the the largest hole (where the socket fits), and last I drilled the bolt hole to size. This was all done on a drill press. There are now 6 bolts total holding my grate on.. 5 in the rear and 1 in the front. THIS GRATE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE!

Here are some pictures of what it looks like and how it turned out.

    Stage III Project

I took a couple more pictures yesterday also. I thought I'd share how my winter project is comming along. I started it the middle of November. Hull is repaired/cleaned, engine is back in and aligned, s3 sc/intercooler, and a lot of other stuff..

Check that exhaust out... pretty nasty looking!

I like how you put the ball valve on the water inlet line. Thats a great idea.

I made a copy of this thread and put it in the "how to" section. The pictures tell a thousand words on the install of the girdle.
    Great Job by the way...

Thanks guys, the project is really comming along now! If I'm real lucky I'll have my intercooler pipes done by Wed for some warm testing weather. Wish me luck.
