Seadoo 785 Maintenance/Info
I just came across this document I made a while back on 785 Seadoo's and thought I would share it since there have been a few related questions lately. This is a list of things to be aware of on a 785cc engine Seadoo to keep you on the water and not in the shop. Please add to this list if you think it is relevent.
Trim spark plug wires(have spare bracket for coil)
Move ground wire from starter to rear of block.
Replace fuel lines(TSC in Canada has what you need cheap)
Replace internal carb filters
Clean front fuel filter. Make sure O-Ring is not stretched
Clean Rave Valves(replace o-rings and gaskets)
Update rave bellows if necessary(red is old, green is new style)
Inspect and replace VTS boot(if applicable), replace metal clamp with zip tie.
Inspect and replace O-Rings in drain plugs
Make sure there is no water in rear electrical box
Check small wire going to ground on battery, replace connector if necessary.
Buy a spare rectifier, you will need it and probably the day the dealer is closed.
Make sure the spare fuses are in the proper places.
Grease drive shaft.
Install electric bilge pump

Mentioning the vts, I know of someone who's didn't work, come to find out water got in...so it maybe just a good idea just to make sure no water has gotten into it

I should add that there is a guy local to me that fixes VTS housings. I haven't used him yet, but I will probably be taking an XPL housing to him which if I remember correctly is the same as the XP in the spring. $150.
A couple years ago, a guy I ride with had his VTS motor stop working. I took it apart, cleaned it up, put it back together and it has been working for 3 years now.
