*THE* Official Rideplate Holes Thread to solve all others
We have a god awful amount of threads on rideplate holes. I'm a very disgruntled Seadoo modder thinking about all the things I've done with my ski that were failures and successes. One of those failures being my rideplate holes, lol... doesn't get much simpler than that
WE NEED FACTS. get under your ski and examine... no guessing or heresay. are your rideplate fillings rusting AT ALL? are they falling out? are they still intact but look like they're working loose? do you ride in fresh water or salt water?
I for one used JB weld stick.. you know it comes in a thing like 4" long and you gotta mash it together with your fingers till it becomes a uniform color then press it into the holes. Well i lost two of my fillings (the two rear-most holes) and the other ones are all rusted and browned. Ok so maybe if i roughed up my rideplate holes they would have grabbed better, but jsut as well they came out bc i don't want rusted hole fillings!
report your succes or failure, so i can make a nice pretty FAQ about rideplate holes for us to always reference so we see what worked, what sucked, what rusted, etc...
JB weld putty stick thing with black middle and grey outside = SUCKS

JB Weld stick works great for me?

well there goes that theory... lol. Must be my polluted and salty NY waterways that make my JB weld stick just turn into round rust spots

WOW! that is interesting. I wonder if JB weld does have a metal content to it. The salt water could very well be eating it up.

I use the Magnum marine epoxy sold at Loew's. Used it on my GPR and never had problems. Now I use it on the RXP with the same results.
Go over to the Yamaha side and read what is done to the GPR's. You'll be amazed at how many of the mods that are done to the GPR also work on the RXP. If your into the 'technical' aspect of your ski, that's the place to go and learn.
