    B-Kit Impeller Bent

Take a look at the fin at the 12 o'clock position as compared to the others being perfectly straight. It is a lot more obvious when you enlarge the pic, especially the bottom pic. It looks like there is a slight/little wobble in the blade from where it must have picked something up. Is this something that I should try to straighten out or will it have no impact. Just wondering if something spinning at 48,000 rpm's would be affected by this.

Jay, don't try and straighten it out. If you do it can crack. I would leave it alone.

I was showing Hydrojunkie my b-kit last Friday and he noticed the same thing about mine. I was worried also, but was assured that it would be ok.

Looks like an impact mark right there on the blade.....could it be from the tool used to cut the balancing striation mark?

Fizzle, is your B-kit bent with the striation mark next to it?

Cool, thanks for the replies fellas....

Danny, I actually noticed the mark and the bend when I was getting ready to put it back in. I don't think it came from Les like that when I got it two years ago because I have probably had the s/c'er in and out over 15 times and never noticed it before. But then again, it just as well could have been there from the get go, I am getting old ya know. Just as long as I am not losing performance I'm happy. If I was, I'd probably consider dumping it, but only after I tried to put a bend to it.....

I've had SC blades like that and took them back...it is not very likely impact bent the impeller. Look REAL close to your SC shaft

    Jeff,

I am not following on what you are saying about the shaft....You don't think impact did it? There is definately a nick in the fin where Danny points it out. Once the pic is enlarged, then you can see the nic.

Fizzle needs to look at his, and if his mark is similar, we need to see if their is a balancing striation next to it...that would lean the culprit to be the machine used to balance it...because directly across from where the mark is, the blade is lower, thus no contact...

AND if you look at the blade in the 3'oclock position, there is another balancing striation...but this one is not as deep, so no chance of possible touching...

    BUT I could be wrong...

I have seen many B kit impellers with that same mark or "kink"
I wonder if they do that to help balance it because i know there are no half circles taken out of the outer circumference like with other impellers (Rude Charger, Green Charger, Riva S2, Riva S3)
