I had a plug go bad and the GIO porblem. The GIO problem has been slight with some people and bad with others. Mine wasn't real bad but was noticeable. I installed the R&D crankcase vent kit and it completely cured the GIO deal. (it also made my ski run better)

Cleaned rtv out of crankcase breather tube. Fixed GIO problem without going to the R&D breather system. 25 hours since and no hint of gas in oil.

    SRT,
There are many threads and posts on here about the common problems with the 250X. There are also many threads on performance mods
(If you decide not to keep it stock) It's not too hard to get an extra 3-4 more mph top speed fairly cheap. All of us guys who have 07's would love to see what your 08 will run stock after you do the break in.

I will be able to fill you in on the top speed pretty soon. I have 3.5 hours as of today.

Get about 6-8 hrs on that thing and let her rip!
Mine ran 67.6 stock. That was last April when the temps were in the low 50's and no humidity.

I had the GIO, spark plug fouling and the c-rod failure. But is ski reliable? I know this could sound like asking Mrs. Lincoln, aside from what happened to Abe, how did you like the play?

But even these problems have not been enough to cause me to switch from the Ultra because of the superior handling in chop, massive storage etc. I also had equally serious problems with my 04 SD GTX SC, including ceramic washer failure (pre Greenhulk membership) which trashed the whole engine. When I consider the incredibly harsh conditions in which we operate, I still think these skis are technical marvels. My own personal belief is that, compared to my Subarus, ALL of these darn PWCs are "unreliable," but I still love the things and think PWCing is one of the best sport/hobbies in the world!

Plugs. Dealer wouldn't pay. Nothing else went wrong. GIO is no worse than my 13psi rotax.

Had my plugs replaced under the recall which fixed my hard start problem a few weeks ago ! other then that ski runs great no water in oil as of yet . And still the best looking ski on the water IMO .
