Not a big loss. Yes, very much worth it. Use at least 2 washers under each screw boss for each tab.

MONSTER Fender washers would be the best solution for those plastic tabs.

When I performed this mod at first I thought it was great but noticed that when I let go of the throttle I slowed down a lot faster. Just did not like it. Only my opinion. It did help my top end though....See Yah...

When shimming the tabs down if they are set at a right sweet spot along with the plate when you let off the throttle you boat should glide across the water when letting off the throttle. There will be a loss of speed by just putting in a couple of washers and going out to test but handling will be much better.. Now if you shim the tabs down and play with your plate angle you should find a happy medium and gain speed with great handling..Also ace hardware carries fender washers
