    Rxp 12v low/new battery

04 RXP 185 hours, stock battery. Went riding a couple of weeks ago and got 12v low on info center. I thought it was time (after 4 years)for a new battery. Just got an Odessey. While riding yesterday after about 1 hour 12v low comes back on. Ski started fine all day. Voltage when I put it in was 13v(after being on battery tender). Voltage was checked when I got home and was 11.9. Whats next, fuse, voltage regulater??? Phil

First, put a VOM on the battery terminals and start the ski. If it's +13.5 VDC or above, it's charging the battery. Anything under +12.5 VDC and it's not charging and it's time to troubleshoot the charging system... Ron

Would that reading take place at idle speed?

Tested volts, dead engine,11.9. Started engine, then checked battery terminals at idle, voltage was at 11.71 and held there for a good 15 seconds. Will it charge at idle or do I need to apply more RPM's?

I would rev it, if it doesn't budge sounds like you have stator issues

Tested it again and revved it a few times and the volts stayed at 11.69. It does not appear to be charging.

Something is wrong with the charging system. You should be getting 13.5+ volts at idling.

Check the 30A fuses on the battery cable by the MPEM. They are under the red cover forward left in the engine room. If not that, most likely rectifier.

Check the regulator/rectifier module which is mounted up front on the air intake box. Connections might be bad. Also there is a fuse in the circuit between the reg and batt that might be open. If not, maybe you can find somebody that will let you swap in a known working regulator.
Question for the experts: The voltage regulator/rectifier will get HOT. That's why it's mounted in an aluminum heatsink and the heatsink fins are located inside the air intake duct. It's got to have airflow over the fins to keep it from overheating and failing. When you install an aftermarket air intake what do you do with the regulator module to keep it cool?
