    Engine Oil Type/Brand You Use

Since I am going to be doing my own oil changes now, I was curious which engine oil everyone is using in their 250's. I am NOT trying to start a debate, Just please list the oil brand and weight and change frequency.

Also question for skip, I know you use the ams, but can I use synthetic at my first oil change or have to wait a while. I was thinking of changing at 5 hours, then 10 hours for the first time.

I use Kawasaki 10w40 jet ski oil. I am thinking about switching to Amsoil Marine 4 stroke 10w40 this spring.

As you said its easy to start a debate oil oil's

my personal view is leave the basic 10-40w or 10-30w or what ever climate your in will determine exact rating,in the book page 48 give specs

My opinion is to leave a mineral based oil for first 8-10 , 2 changes , that way it will give the rings/bores to bed as best as possible ( rembering to follow a running in procedureand no heaps of WOT .

than after that if you with change to a SYN oil .

my dealer Brisbane Jetskis ( Ross ) said leave STD grade ol till about 15-20 hrs as he feels that when they have realy finished running in.

    my .02cents

We had this type of question/discussion on the Seadoo side of the house and most agreed to use what manufacturer recommends.

Why take a chance on an expensive toy.

Kawi does have its own oil ,

So I would use theirs as a min quality, not saying its the best in the world but they will warrant with the same ar higher quality.

the Kawi oil I have seen for use after run in is a SYN oil.

    IMO

Break-in using good ole dino oil. After break-in, Mobil 1 or Amsoil SYN. Mobil 1 can be found just about anywhere, and I figure if it's good enough for new Z06 vettes then the Ultra won't be any harder on it.

That Amsoil is pretty darn good. I put some in my 15F, a while back, I run it HARD, oil still looks great!

Due to GIO, I use Amsoil Marine 10/40 to prevent as much wear as possible.

do you have a link to that, I looked on the site and could not find the marine oil. Is it synthetic? What makes it marine spec.

edit: Ok found it. I think I like the amsoil Marine 10/40 so I ordered some.
