It's not the bolts - it's the grate itself. Inspect it under a bright light every single time you ride. This has been going on for years, and the only light at the end of the tunnel is Jerry making his SS grate.

    FULLBOOGIE FOR PRES!

    Chuck,
I buy different size SST bolts from www.boltdepot.com . It's nice having different sizes. I have about $300 invested in the box, and about 2 years (rolling) worth of bolts, nuts, studs, washers, inserts, shims, etc... all stainless metric. The stock bolts on the gpr handling parts are trash, straight from the factory.

1.25 is the pitch. M8-1.25 x ??MM. How long are you looking for? The stainless market is settling right now, but it looks like it is going to go up again soon. Buy them now.

If you need any other help with any fasteners, let me know. I have been in the nut & bolt industry for about the past 5 years.

Hope the SS grates come before my maiden voyage in spring.
I can see how longer bolts will be necessary with the tunnel mod.

i have all the stainless bolts already. these will be for my peace of mind. cause i dont know if i will be able to modify a ss grate.

I have never seen one broken from ridding, I have seen a couple broken from over tighting them though. I sugust you change them from 6 mm to 8 mm which is easier to find. For peace of mind . Use blue lock tight on bolts and tork to 18-20 foot pounds on the 8 mm bolts. Tommy

I have seen this piece in person and it is the beefiest thing I have ever seen! There is NO way that that is pulling through the hull!
