How's this for a one in a Million SC failure...
a customer's ski, NOT MINE, lol
one ceramic washer gone. rebuild the s/c, then started pulling oil pumps and covers apart. Put the PTO cover on the bench and see something sticking out of the stator wires... yep. the SC clutch blew up and stabbed the wiring harness coming from the stator... pull the haraness apart and the ceramic piece actually sliced one wire in half and slit another half way thru.
first time i've seen that one, that's for sure

don't ask how many hours were on it.... lol.
to say the least, the guy is a total moron! so hours on it don't really matter given the lacking common sense of the guy and his attitude and arrogance about a machine he knows NOTHING about.
we told him don't run the ski anymore till we fix it. well a different dealer told him otherwise, that he could in fact run the ski forever with no SC, u jsut have no extra power.....so he ran the living chit out of it for anther 12 hours with a blown SC.
brand new ski... beatin to crap!! u look at it, u'd think it has 200+ hours on it, it's hit docks, it's banged up and scratched, torn and decals ripped off it. an utter disgrace...
okok... he blew the SC at 11 hours, and then rode the snot out of it for another 12 hours after that. so it has 22. something hours on it now

How exactly did it cut the wires? where?...PR...

the wiring harness going from the stator and out the PTO cover to the harness plug... somehow the clutch exploded and had a sharp edge and stabbed the wiring harness inside the cover and was lodged in there. pulled the fragment out, pulled the wire covering back, and 1 wire was sliced in half, and another was half way torn. i guess that's how sharp ceramic can be spinning at 40K + rpms, lol

Snoman, i have 130 very rough lake hours on a 04 rxp with the original clutch and still pull around 8100 rpm when it's cold out and i ride the crap out of my ski, spinouts, subs, fig-8's, hard acceleration and lots of wave/wake jumping, 1 and 2 up. Just let off the gas when you get air and you'll be okay, or maybe I am just lucky????
holy god this guy is a total moron!! did he buy the ski or does he have rich parents?
