Need a little help and or advise

I bought a 2004 GP1300r with a hurt motor, the guy I go it from says he put the wrong sparkplugs in it and it blew up. Here is a picture of the piston. I made sure the oil lines were there and they are. I looks to me to be a lean condition. I just wana make sure before I put it back together with a new cylinder and piston and hurt it again. The head has no dammage at all.

Thanks in advacne for the help

Did you ask him what plug he put in it? That would have to be a very hot plug to do that. I am not sure if there is a plug any hotter than a 7 series, and I still don't know if that would do it.

just a wild guess.... water intrusion. No cover on driveshaft coupler.

    Or a case leak.

Is that a hole knocked in the side of the piston? Or is that whats left of the boost port hole on the carb side? If there isin't a small machined hole on the other side the piston was put in backwards and the rings snagged the exaust port.

Either way it ain't from a plug.
