    Yamaha first year model

I'm in the market for a new Yamaha FX SHO. Those of you who had experience with first year model Yamaha. Would you ever buy the first year model again from Yamaha, and any issue with getting the manufacture to repair the defect and bug?

    Thanks,

well the 13 wasnt a first year model technically... all they did differently from the 12's is 100 more cc's and efi...so there would have been nothing to worry about...

I got one of the first 2000 GP1200R's to hit the dealers. The first 100 hours the only issues I had were the cat con going apart (still a GPR issue) and the wear ring had a casting error in it and feel apart.

The next 100 hours were trouble free except the crank braking at (170ish hours). Not too bad for a first year model designed for speed.

I don't really buy into the first year model thing. The issues are generally very small and can be fixed without much hassle. That is also what the warranty is for.

We have a first year FX140 with over 240 hours on it. Only 2 issues we had was a quirky sensor that once they called a factory tech, they told them how to resolve it and the other was an o-ring that was mis-installed on one of the oil lines. Both taken care of via warranty.

We are seriously considering at least 1 if not 2 SHOs so I guess the answer is yes, 1st year is fine. The biggest concern is if they add 20 HP next year, will you be OK with the ski you have, but that is a risk we all have to decide on.

I've bought several 1st year Yamaha skis.
    '95 1100 raider
    '97 gp1200
    '00 GPR1200
    '03 GPR1300EFI

You really don't have to worry about the 1st year thing, because the same problems will be there year after year. BUT, I am looking at the new SHO this year.

Even still!! Was a new concept, cant argue that.

Either way im not worried about it. I bought a first year YFZ450 and it was fine. Same with my 99 Ultra150, it was fine.
