Thread: electronics recycling?

Any of you guys deal with recycling? I have several hundred circuit boards, capacitors, switches, amp and other mil spec connectors, and a bunch of other vintage electrical components. I know these things are recyclable, but have not been able to find anyone in my area that does it.
Any ideas are appreciated.

If you are not looking to make money, just getting rid of the stuff check with your local gov. ours has an electronics recycle program once per month. Doesn't cost anything to drop anything off.

I would prefer to get some $$ out of it because of the sheer quantity. Most of the boards and connectors have gold plated contacts, and there's probably a few miles of coper in there too. I have been dismantling a warehouse full of vintage reel to reel film equipment and taking the metal to the local scrap guy. Unfortunately he doesn't deal with electronics. I'll check the local government, but I doubt they offer anything.

The only other thing I've seen is where you pay to have your stuff recycled

I'd call your refuse company and ask who pays if they don't. or google "electronics recycling, "zip""
There is silver on those boards and worth $$ without question.
