Too bore or not too bore…..

On a Polaris 1200 DI motor is it a bad idea to bore it out? This comes to mind only because you can't change the mixture or timing.. all that you can really do is increase the fuel octane... but i could be wrong...

no you can bore those cylinders. i do them all the time. you are good to 84.5 mm with stock heads and after that they need to be rechambered for the bigger bore(85 mm). if you need cylinders bored i have them. you can send me yours and i can bore those as well. it does not effect the engine performance at all. can even set you up with a piston kit too.

Maybe go 85mm while you have her torn down?

Hey Craft.. yeah, that is kind of what i was thinking.. may as well do it while i have it apart.. is good that the crank is good. Once I got the flywheel off i was able to get her to true TDC and everything lined up.. amazing how much those magnets move that thing...
