Anyone have succes in purchasing a 2008 GPR in NY State?

First I thought it was due to stricter emissions standards, but instead because of not having a "learning" program in the ECU, it's not allowed in the state. It's the govenor chip that other skis have on the lanyard.
    Any way around this??

    L.I. Kawasaki/Yamaha, Hicksville.

    Jon:
We both have the same registration agency located in Albany, so if they're available upsate, then L.I. should have them. 'Unless this is a county issue??

I doubt it..I think that dealer is mistaken or just feeding you bs. I have never heard of anything like this anywhere in NY. I would call some other dealers near you and ask them if they have the 2008 GPR.

It is due to the emissions standards and no they are Not supposed to be sold in the state of NY for 08. Now the guy in Niagra, did he have them delivered directly to his shop or an out of state address? I'm curious, if you purchased it out of state supposedly you can bring them back to NY and register them here( as a consumer not a dealer). It sounds rediculous but thats the understanding we have on our end.

the guys at LIK are good guys... however i think they misinformed you on the reasoning... even at the NYC boat show every ski was there except the GPR bc its the only one that fails the new emission standards

scott is right on all those stupid loop holes... just a play on regiatration and addresses to make it happen

    What do you mean NOW????

Shib, did they have a SuperJet? Both say "not available in NY or CA" on the Yami website.
