I have one for a gpr you can have and experiment with. It "might" work.

Come to think of it, I doubt it's your float. It's probably a blown pico fuse on the unit.

Thanks! it for someone else that had a sunk float and tried a piece of wood! I'm surprised it's not listed separately ? Z

Nope. The float is made internal to the pickup... or at least Yamaha purchased it as a unit. I don't think you can even find a part number for the rubber piece at the top.

Picture of the 2000 and up sending unit modified with the outer plastic shield removed and tubing. I don't know if this is the same as the older one or not. You should post the question in the old school section.

Here are some pics of the pico fuse sending unit repair, and or mod. You can find pico fuses at radio shack.

ZMAN, I Chased this problem about a year ago on my gp and finally bought a new sending unit from Yamaha which has been updated in design and now every thing is fine, I know they are not cheep but it's the only way to end your fuel gauge problems once and for all, Tommy Jordan
