Little off shore safety
This is a simple add to cover the Coast Guard requirements:
When you buy the kit, also buy the mounting bracket sold seperatly. West Marine sells both. I mounted it up and out of the way as you can see in the pictures. I used two stainless steel 12 x 5/8 sheet metal screws. Since there is not much space between the liner and the hull, I ground down the points of the screws so to shorten them a bit more so they only bearly pearce the liner. Once you find and mark your spot, predrill the holes, carefully of course. The screws are more for keeping the bracket in place while the caulk dries. In the pictures, you can see that I left the center free of caulk on the top and the bottom, that is to allow the bungee cord to slide through. Caulk the bracket throughly and wipe it clean with lacquer thinner. The caulk can be runny, so a colder day is better that a hot day. Once the caulk sets, it's there forever. I did adjust (bend) the bottom of the bracket and adjust (file) the top of the canister to allow for the heads of the screws. The bungee is a 12" that I tied a knot in to tighten it and so it doesn't pull back out of reach when installing. Slide in down through the opening you left, and it done.
I ride rough, big air and they (done in both skis) never have come loose.
Not the most major add on, but maybe it will be helpful to someone.
