    Wave Eater Clips

I have an 03 GPR. How important is it that I add wave eater clips? What exactly do they do? How difficult are they to install? Who sells them? A lot of questions, but I know these are probably easy answers for most. Thanks for the help.

Kinda important. They help keep the piston from eating the valve. The OEM stops on the valve wear after awhile and let it travel to close to the piston.

Also the conectors included in the kit help tighten up the linkage. After a lot of use the OEM connectors get worn and don't open the valves all the way causing a loss in performance.

Get the clips. Forget about the couplers.

    U actually need both.

The couplers, remove the slop /play in the stock couplers. I got a huge boost in performance with billet couplers.

If the couplers are the same ones as 2 years ago, I would skip them. The quality is just not there and I spoke to them about it.

I have billet aluminium couplers, that were sold on this forum.
I doubt youll find any gpr part with better quality than these.

Not the rubbish plastic /nylon ones

Gas valves are expensive, and dont yeild any performance gain

Bumping an old thread... have a 60T motor apart for its first rebuild.

The OEM PV has a pretty healthy step in it that engages the cylinder casting, it's hard to imagine that much material going away... it makes me wonder if PV clips came along in the aftermarket to solve a problem on a different engine, and people stayed in the habit for the 1300R motors?

That being said, one of my PV shaft screws did come loose and so that cylinder's PV was never moving, and appeared to rest in the closed position. (No piston contact.)

This makes me attracted to the clips that provide a positive locking mechanism for the screw. I think the WaveEater branded parts are the only ones that grab the screw:

So where are people buying these now?

Greenhulk's storefront has them at $20/ea (need 3!) and WaveEater has an Amazon.com storefront where they only sell the $99 kit with shaft couplers. And WaveEater's website is flagged for malware.

    Vendor ideas appreciated, thanks.
