    painting grabhandle?? HELP!!

    any paint experts out there... i finally got my girlfriends 1300 back after being in the paint booth for over 4 months!!! it looks awesome but the faded black grabhandle just doesnt fit... the guy said he will paint it for free if i "prep it" .. can anyone give me some help on this... what grit sandpaper do i use.... do i sand it till its totally smooth.. what about between all the wholes.. will the paint peel... also what primer will make it last ... looking for any advice.. thanks a lot!!!

    i totally would if i didnt live in the cayman islands it would costs over 100 to ship... each way!.. i talked to him and he gave me great tips.. do u have up close pics of yours?? i just dont know how i will get in all the little cracks like where the bolts go... did it get tapped off and only paint the part seen or did he spray in all the cracks?? thanks

    He painted everything. I have it bolted in or I would take a couple more pics. Obviously the parts unseen have not been buffed out, but its all painted.

    Yes, SMOOTH. Start with a ~120 grit to remove the texture and step down to a 400 wet. Most of the sanding has to be done by hand.
    The material will "breath" when primer is applied. A re-sand and prime is needed.
    Put circles of tape over the holes and pop them off before the last coat of clear.
    I went with a PPG automotive three-part concoction.

    awesome thanks thats all the info i needed... for now... oh and what is the tape over the holes for .. just so they dont get smaller?? ski looks amazing... will put up pics of mine this week thanks evryone!!!
