possibly a bad CDI or coil. Did you replace the stator with a new one or used? There are wiring diagrams within the tech section. If you are capable with a multimeter, you can test the individual components within the CDI box. It could also be something as simple as a bad connection on the spark plug boot. The boots screw on. Just remove boot, trim wire 1/4 inch and reinstall boot.

Welcome to the HULK. There are testing procedures in the tech section as mentioned earlier. You have a domestic engine, so look up domestic electrical. First thing to do is make sure the battery is fully charged. Those engines won't spark if the battery voltage is below 12V. If that's not it, more than likely the stator is failing. A common symptom is to see if the spark get brighter when you press or depress the start button.

I'd also like to say WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!!
2873091 is the update kit needed for your 96 1050.
Like xlnt stated be SURE you have a known good battery or power source and that all connections are in proper working order.
We also need to know what you actually replaced the stator with, it may be what you installed is defective or non compatible wit your CDI.

Question for the Experts; Can you tell with multimeter coil testing if you have the new vs. old stator types, without pulling the flywheel?
Is there an ohms chart somewhere comparing the various stator versions?

IF you have the newer stator..the CDI will be a different part # in the elec box.... and yes in the tech section..and you can test the stator from the elec box..

The newer style CDI will have a port to plug into and it's number will be 4010447 if it's a complete update anyway...

Welcome to the Hulk! I've felt that pain before....mine was a bad stator, but I had no spark at all. I did trim the ignition wires later and the performance change was remarkable.
