high speed runs Salt v Fresh water

Obviouisly Salt water is faster for top speed because the water is 'lighter'... what is the speed difference between the two (and does it change the faster (more powerful) a boat is?

I'm currently setting my boat up, and am doing some testing in fresh water (close to my house) and some in Salt water (close to Mike72 who is helping me out)...

Salt water is denser and more bouyant. Should be faster and is for most watercraft. My expierence has proven the opposite due to the high amounts of foam produced in the pump with salt contaminated water.

i thought salt was heavier,so slower, salt makes thing denser so the prop has a harder time turning it..

and the age old debate start again...

cant wait to hear you results....

Theoretically the pump should be more efficient in the salt. Propeller driven boats are almost always faster in salt compared to fresh.

totally correct. and the salt water in the states isnt even that salty. test your bike in fresh water in florida then bring it down here where its extra salty u will be shocked.. u will be shocked at how much slower it is.. riva couldnt believe how slow thier stage 2 2008 gpr ran down here after they had just tuned and tested it up there. im no scientist so dont ask me why but its way slower in our dense salt water!!
