Off the coast of So Cal... Santa Barbara, Marina Del Rey, and Newport Beach.. The best days to ride are those days when the harbor patrol advices you it's not safe to go out...

Lake Lanier is rougher with no wind than that on weekends

How cold is the water? Ive ridden lake michigan early may water around 60, outside temp around 70 and the waves were WAY bigger then the ones in the middle picture id say around 6 foot swells if not bigger. 25 MPH winds coming off the lake.
Not all Freshwater is as calm and warm as you think it is and i was wearing nothing but swimming trunks and a vest. Its olny cold for the first couple min.

Yeah, I've heard that the Great Lakes can get REAL NASTY.
