    07 GTX Limited Air Intake

I decided a while back to do a homemade 4" intake, for the first couple months I was trying to work out how to draw cold air in and keep water out. So here is what I came up with using the watertight storage compartment used in the Limiteds.

That is nice setup. But I was wondering how the air is going to enter the comparment. Never mind I see the flow rites now.

Not at all the drop in tray fits right over the filter element

Yeah 4 flo rites as far as cross section they have more area than a 4" tube, but there is room for 2 more on that lid if I'm not happy with it.

And it still draws unrestricted air?

I'm still working on the tray, I think I will be drilling multiple 3/8" holes in the sides of it.

Also, the tray is not air tight, it has several openings already in it

Nothing against your set up so no offense here...

When I was looking at up front 4" intakes I was told and found on my own that...restrictions lessen or off set the gains to be had...a filter is a restriction....flow-rites are a restriction....bends....the length of the tube itself and corrugations in the line add resistance if not restrictions.....all these take away the potential effectiveness of increasing the air intake in the first place.

I was close enough to the limiter(stock) before I put a non-filtered diy lowes 4", that I actually saw little to no difference in performance.

    It sounded nice....outside of that....nada.
