    RPMs Comparison

When trying to trick out a 05 GTX SC (185 hp) and trying to get the most out of it...Everyone seems to discuss top speed and rpm. When I mod my 185 with a Stage I, I know I have to be adding hosre power. Is there a formula or an educated guess as to what horse power a 185 hp with a stage I, free-flow, and iridium plugs would get? I have read here where someone wrote his 185 hp could keep up with (or even perform better than) a RXT. Obviously the 185 was modded, so what's to give?

Nobody knows because the average joe doesn't have a dyno and HP numbers aren't given with Stage 1 kits.

If i had to guess, 180 HP tops. Your ski isn't really 185 HP as advertised. RXP's that are advertised as 215 really dynoed at 197 at Rotax Racing.

The stage 1 kit is not all about HP. It's about making the ski/pump more efficient.

S-D has usually been under rated 98 xpl.... triples...130hp VS 160hp. Even though The xpl is still raced in a modded form and the (raider?) is in the scrap heap. Pump effieciency and hull drag have to match the hp...it seems as though S-D is very good at that. That is why hp is almost insignificant.

Like Jerry said, there is so much efficency lost at the pump. I attached a page from the Service Manual that estimates power at the pump to be 82.74-hp. That's not very efficient.... Ron

I get that noone has the damn dyno. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that...What i am looking for is the SeaDoo scientist that would know this, or at least know enough about it to say, forget horsepower and concentrate on tope speed/rpm.

Maybe I could have rephrased my thread to something along the lines of...Are there enough mods for a GTX SC (not intercooled... since stating 185 hp means nothing now...185 hp is/is not not 185 hp) to mimic a stock RXT/RXP whether 215 hp or not?

Can a GTX SC (non intercooled) with mods fair with a RXT/RXP? If so, is it fair to say the horsepower could be equal or better to say "performance" is equal?

Maybe I should start digging my way out of the confussion hole???
