    What would you do?

Okay, last summer my 750 fried a stator and there was no way to get it started before winter came, so what i did was pour oil down each cylinder and then rotated the crank by hand in order to get the oil to cover the crank/bearings. My question is was that a smart idea??????????? I know when I go to take the motor out it's going to be fun draining all that oil out but i had to do it in order to keep the rust away.

I don't know why you couldn't just leave you plugs out and spin the starter(Allow time for cooling of it between spins)Till most is Blown out. (Just cover the heads so you don't oil everything) when none will spit out anymore, Fire it up. Of couse the people in the houses next to you will call the Fire Department. And you'll chase of any masqutos(sp)

There are drain plugs in the case on the intake side.

I cleared liquid out of my motor several times by taking the pulse line off, placing a rag by it, tipping the ski over about 20deg on the trailer, and spinning the starter. Works great, and very easy to get to! You don't get every last drop, but the majority of it....

You need to get more of the oil out than just by spinning it over and let whatever spit out the spark plug hole. A good amount of oil can get pushed into the exhaust port and fill back into the motor after you stop spinning. Like others above have mentioned, either drain it out through the drain plugs on the cases or at least drain out what you can through the pulse lines...although I think the drain plugs is the better way to go. Good luck!

Beerdart, that's what i was planning on doing...

I guess I worded it wrong, I was just wondering if i did the right thing by pouring some oil down the cylinders since there was no way to crank the starter over.
