    1985 550 stand-up

I have a friend that has an old stand-up, '85 550 I think. It has not been in the water for 7-10 years. What is it worth or is it worth trying to get started? How cheap does it have to be to make the effort worth while to get it running?

    Thanks

not much, i had a few given to me over the years... and have given a few away too. id say maybe $200 if all the parts are there..
if it was running and ready to ride maybe $500....
make sure the paperwork is clean, thats the biggest problem ive seen with 20 year old ski.. over the years titles and ownership get changed sooo much that it get confusing when it come time to register it..

i got a bud with 5 in his back yard if ya need any parts..

I got it yesterday and first I checked to see if the crank would turn and it did. I then looked at the carb and it was amazingly clean. I put a battery in her sprayed some gas/oil into the carb and she fired right up and idled until the gas in the carb ran out. I gave everything a once over and I think ready to go. I paid $150 w/cover.

    550 engine question

What is the mixture for a 550 stand-up? I have a question on a cap on the stator (front) end of the engine. See picture it looks like oil level cap but I know ther is not supposed to be oil in that case.

I have a question on the diaphram on the back side of the carb. I put new gas/oil in the tank and the motor just cranks and cranks. I can put gas into the carb and it will run, I have filled the seperator and she will not yet suck gas into the carb. Is the diaphram in need of repair or could it be the fuel selector switch?

could be selector I have seen those go bad, I run clear lines so I can see the fuel going through the lines, just thinking out loud but if you pull the inlet line off the carb and suck it with the gas is on it should let gas come through, you can also turn it to the off position and suck and see what happens also do it one the reserve position and try it, should elminate your selector if its good or bad

I have performed the "suck test" and it is not the fuel selector switch. Now when I try to start the ski the fuel pulses up to about 2" away from the carb. I believe that means the diaphram needs to be rebuilt, right?
