Need a little help here. I removed my oil injection pump from my 2003 Virage due to malfunction and frying the bearings on my cam rod .I rebuilt the engine and Im going pre mix what is the oil to gas ratio and since Ill be breaking in the engine on the first tank of pre mix how much heavier on the oil should I go for the first tank?

40:1 is more than good, I break mine in at 32:1

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said. With the exception of running Amsoil... I will run Amsoil at a 50:1 ratio. <<<<<<<< Great stuff. But I do not not use it for break in.

Do your self a favor and get a 2 cycle mixing cup. They are graduated with the mixing ratios and make premixing painless.

    Welcome to the Hulk.

May I ask, what was the nature of the malfunction?
I am running with oil pumps, and am interested in how they have failed, especially on a relatively young engine like yours.

I am thinking but not sure an air pocket in the line I had my niece with me going full throttle . The engine was running awsome . Turned out I was running dry. I blew the cam-rod bearings and seized the engine. All the bronze bearing seals were in the exhaust and the top of my piston. The messed up part is there is no warning when your running lean. Why take another chance pull the oil pumps out and go pre mix. I have a mixing cup ,just didnt know the mix to gas ratio.

    32:1 Break-in with non synthetic
40:1 normal operation with oil of your choice.

Is this injected ?.If so you need to get it working again .Advance the the crank on the oil pump to allow more oil into the engine .Bleed it properly .Clean the filter in the line from the tank .Make sure your cable is in good condition .
