2 Stroke Technology On It"s Way Back In To Pwc ???
I wanted to post this in all the brand forums but dont know how..
ANyway It seems that BRP and Evinrude will combine the fitch fuel systems and rotax motor to deliver an all new pwc 2 stroke back into industry. Seadoo to be the first I assume and probably the only one. Since they are owned by the same company.
The Evinrude E-Tec which is the cleaniest burning outboard motor will be the idea this is based on. It has the best emission rating of any outbard 2 stroke or 4 stroke. Weighs less and has more power and requires less maintance.
If any knows anything about these outboards they really are amazing.
So they are designing a whole new motor to be put into pwc's.
What year not sure but I assume they want to hit market in 2010.
Can I confirm this no but I have been getting info on this motor ever since they relased it. Since I still have friends that work at boat shops where I used to work and still attend the seadoo schools and Merc/mercruiser classes as well, and so on...
So It looks like there will be some interesting things comingn in the next couple years ....
Will it be worth it...Well maintance wise and cost .....maybe...
Will it be able to be modified and provide as much HP gain like adding a SC to it and other items ....and still be reliable and get a good gain like that of a SC who knows....we will have to see.
If any Moderators would like to move this thread to the other forums as well it would be nice to see all others comments. As long as they dont think im a wack job...

I don't think that...if you visit BRP different website what they say is that they brought the E-TEC in on 2 strokes...yes...but it is more for the Ski-Doo market, where people crave about the 2 stroke engines, i think the owners of the 4 stroke PWC or Jetboat could tell you, they don't want to step back into a 2 stroke one....and that BRP knows.
Anyway...time will tell...

well, if they can build a jet ski motor that is as reliable and has the same maintenance requirements as the E-tec Johnrudes, I will be damned close to the first in line to buy one unless the ski they put it in is too big for the HP the engine makes and is no fun to ride.

I DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF GOING BACK TO THE 2 STROKE , BECAUSE OF THE RELIABLITY PROBLEMS OF THE PAST. AND THE TUNING PROBLEMS.
BUT THE YAMAHAS DONT HAVE MANY PROBLEMS.

It's Fuel or Diret injection so the ECU already compensates for ALT HUM...and temp..not much differant than a four stroke and it burns cleaner and makes more power and weighs less....plus less parts and less labor and money....
I think it would be interesting...heck those things even idle as good from when I seen a couple at the lake..
Do I own one no but 3 years and ya dont have to touch it. Oil and gas here and there
Sure beats changing the oil in that seadoo every 50 hours just to be safe and not worry about your machine.
For stock to stock,.....for a family ride....I would buy one just for the maintance....hell oil isnt that exspensive.
One reason I stayed 2 smoke for cost reasons....smoke a piston a head on a smoke and your going for $300 bucks maybe less...
Do that on a 4 stroke ....better of parting it out if ya dont know what your doing....and take a lose. Not a great investment ...I M O
But none of these things are ....are they

I just saw commercials today, for Evinrude E-tecs. They are advertising 300 hours before the first maintinence. You know what that means for 2-strokes back in PWCs. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Can you imagine a PWC engine that doesn't need to be seen by a stealer for 3 years?

Evinrude lost the patent for the fitch injection. Plus it sucked anyway.
Someone's blowing smoke up your ass.

I remember seeing Evinrude E-tecs at the boat show years ago.
I have been waiting for it to evolve into a ski.
It would likely start of in a sled then a ski
