Thread: carb info

Hey all. Its been a rough winter (not weather) here, but I am getting my projects ready for the spring trying to get my head straight. I am having an issue with my Kawi still, but you all are the bomb. I got the ski back together and everything is going great, but I cannot get the damn thing to idle. I have 140/145 PSI in the cylinders, adn I can start with the choke ( I see fuel spray into the 40MM Keihin carb), but once I quit goosing it, the thing stalls out.
Heres what I know:
1 Plugs are moist and dark
2 I can see fuel
3 Full rebuild on carbs, starting with L at 1T and H at 5/8T per book
4 No air leak, it doesnt race, but does respond to throttle
5) Cut Back Spark Plug leads and reseatted the boots (have spark on both)
6) Oil block off, and case block off Running 32:1 for break in
Is there a guide to CFM (MM) on carbs to displacement?
currently 40MM with stock jets on .5 over cylinders
Is there a way to go to a differnt carb then the 40MM Keihin CDK II as they are not real easy to find?
What am I missing? I know this sound familiar, as this is the same point I was at before the engine rebuild!

I am real sorry to hear about Allison.
About the ski, it would sound to me like the low speed circuit is blocked.
Does it rev up OK? If so, i would think that would eliminate a fuel delivery issue.
Sure would be nice if some nice GH member had a spare carb that you could try.

Thank you, it has been a long go. I think I dont like the CDK II with the fuel pump attached. I think I wan tto try switching out the carb with something else. I bought this POS with 2 burned pistons, probably due to Fuel delivery issues. I think this carb is hosed. even though I went through it fully. Maybe I have a POP OFF issue?? who knows

I was just wondering about the pop off.....what's it set at?

I had a similur issue with my Virage. Had the carb rebuilt but it didn't help.
Finally took it to a Polaris dealler and they put a brand new carb on it and it run great. Dealer said that it probably had pluged passage.
Thats why I think that if you had another carb to try that would tell us a lot.
